The Tribal Gallery collection of Qing Dynasty Chinese trunks date to the end of the 19th century/beginning of the twentieth. Originally used to store valuable items or even to transport them.
The trunks are made in a light wood and finished with layers of black or red lacquer. Each one reflects a multitude of stories in their aged patinas and for some in the rice paper that coats the interiors.
