Zaer Kilim

This vintage wool kilim was created by hand by the women of the Zaer tribe in the foothills of the Atlas mountains, east of Rabat. The flatweaves of the Zaer are considered some of the finest of Moroccan weavings and this beautiful piece was woven approximately 50 years ago.

Displaying repeating diamond patterns and berber symbols in ochre, moss, peach and smoke white against a deep carmine and time faded byzantium purple, the rug is completed by a border in mirroring colours.
