Zaer Kilim

This vintage wool kilim was created by hand by the women of the Zaer tribe in the foothills of the Atlas mountains, east of Rabat. The flatweaves of the Zaer are considered some of the finest of Moroccan weavings, and this piece is a wonderful example.

Displaying repeating diamond patterns and berber symbols in ochre, moss, rose and white against a deep red and time faded byzantium purple, the rug is completed by a border in mirroring colours.
