Punjabi wedding box

Country of Origin: Pakistan

Material: Cypress Wood

Description: Small box hand-made in the Punjab region of Pakistan early in the last century. This is an unusual piece, with the cypress wood stained red and now beautifully faded by time and lifted by lovely painted mirror-work. This would have held small pieces of a bride’s dowry. Top-opening hinged panel.

Age & Overall Condition: Early to mid 20th century, Pakistan. Condition reflective of age – fading of the painting for example but no significant structural damage.
