Country of Origin: Kenya

Material: Reclaimed hardwoods (teak, camphor and mangrove), Mali indigo ‘mudcloth’ shade

Description: Unique lampshade created from the prow of an old ngalawa (canoe) that was once used for fishing in the mangroves and sea on the Kenyan coast. Finished with a shade handmade using a vintage piece of indigo ‘mudcloth’ from Mali.

Age & Overall Condition: Hardwoods reclaimed from old canoe, each piece individually treated by Tribal Gallery carpenters in Kenya. Each piece of wood carries traces of its past life as a working ship – holes in the wood where there were once nails for example. The wood has been lovingly transformed by hand and will be enjoyed for decades. Vintage indigo mudcloth.
